After enjoying this insightful series of contemplative talks, your experience of the Lord’s Prayer will be forever enriched.
When asked for a teaching on prayer, Jesus did not respond with a method or technique. Rather, he responded with words that captured the essence of his teaching and lifestyle. Down through history, many have looked upon the Lord’s Prayer as more than simply a way to pray. Tertullian, a late 2nd century priest of the Christian community of Carthage in North Africa, referred to it as a breviarium totius evangelii, “a summary of the entire Gospel.”
In this 12-conference series, Fr. Albert Haase, O.F.M reflects upon each phrase of the Our Father in his distinctively inspirational and engaging style. Now you can look deeply and contemplatively at a prayer you most likely hear or recite frequently, and get a fresh glimpse of your faith through the very words Jesus gave us in Luke 11:1.
If asked to give a summary of your faith in 100 words or less, where would you begin? In the 20th century, the Archbishop of Canterbury wrote, “If somebody said, give me a summary of Christian faith on the back of an envelope, the best thing to do would be to write Our Lord’s Prayer.”
The Lord’s Prayer: A Summary of the Entire Gospel will leave you convinced that this treasured prayer is not simply a way to pray, but more importantly, a compact guide of how to live.
