“Prof. Gentile is among the leading scholars worldwide in the field of media effects on children and youth and has led several international research projects. His work on the effects of violent media but also on the addictive potential of excessive media use has filled important gaps in our understanding of the potentially harmful effects of media use. At the same time, his work has highlighted the positive aspects of media as exemplary teachers. Beyond his impact on academic research, he has reached out to parents and policy makers as an advocate for a healthy place of modern media in the lives of children and youth today.
