Every Christian is called to be a missionary, whether across the street or around the world.

Rather than putting mission "on another planet", the Second Vatican Council reminded the church that mission is the reason it exists. Every diocese, parish and Christian are called to continue Jesus' mission to make God'\s love, salvation and justice more of a reality on earth in a variety of ways.

This series of lectures is an introduction to the theory and practice of mission. After painting the "big picture" of God's mission and tracing the origins of the church through the Acts of the Apostles, the course provides a collection of "snapshots" of mission from history. The course then offers a thorough treatment of the church's understanding and practice of mission today, by addressing the big questions of the why, who, where, what and how of mission. This series is intended not only to fill the mind, but also to fill the heart with a desire to participate in God's mission of love, salvation and justice.
