The gospels provide a profound path for spiritual growth. You are invited to follow that path.
Through this special 18-lecture course, explore a powerful four-fold ancient pattern found throughout life, Christian worship and many revered spiritual exercises. This pattern appears to underlie the choice of four gospels and their sequencing into the three-year Sunday reading cycles. The four gospels, when read through this lens, move beyond separate accounts of Jesus to become a seamless spiritual guide for daily life.
In this course, the words of scripture that we know so well come alive in fresh and enriching ways. Each gospel is explored as the answer to one of life's four great questions, matched to the particular spiritual dilemma of the early Christian community for which that gospel was originally written.
Follow internationally celebrated author and Catholic educator Dr. Shaia on a path to an enriching understanding of the Bible’s most frequently read books as well as a deeper spiritual connection to the Church's traditional seasons.

- A New Approach to the Gospels Review by Maggie Monroe-Cassel

Think about making this series part of your Lenten discipline. I have been profoundly impacted by the message of the Four-Gospel Journey as a spiritual discipline and way to understand myself in the world and in the Christian life. I recommend it to all who are searching...and to those who may think they already have found the answers! There is new and profound thinking here for all. As a teacher and minister I have studied the gospels for years. Yet the material of this course is entirely fresh with significant new meaning. Dr. Shaia is an excellent teacher. His words paint pictures. And though the concepts were new, his teaching was simple and clear. I used this course for a personal retreat, and was immediately drawn into Matthew's teachings about facing change, followed by Mark's insights on living through suffering. John's being surprised by joy and Luke's school of maturing in service. Jesus the Christ was my retreat director. The gospel continues to come alive in my daily practice of listening to the gospel from a new place that leads me to deeper changes in my daily life. What more could I ask? Deep gratitude! As one who has studied, prayed with, and invited others to experience the richness of the Gospels all of my adult life, I was delighted to hear some new information and a fresh perspective on the Gospels as a reflection of four universal paths. Then, as I listened more deeply, I realized that in this course, Dr. Shaia is sharing with us not just a new understanding, but a gift of hope. As he describes Gospel truths which are also found in nature, in our daily lives and in the wisdom of our religious traditions, he offers a treasure trove of insights and practical suggestions that could transform our individual and communal lives. I recommend this course to all who want to deepen in their spiritual journey and think they could use a little help. (Posted on 8/16/11)Quality
