Fr. Robin Ryan, CP, Ph.D.
Robin Ryan is a Passionist priest who currently serves on the leadership team of the Passionist congregation in the eastern United States. He taught systematic theology at Saint John’s Seminary (Boston) and Catholic Theological Union (Chicago) for fifteen years. At CTU, he also served as the founding director of Catholics on Call, a vocation discovery program for young adults sponsored by the Lilly Endowment. During his years as a priest, he has also engaged in retreat ministry, serving as director of Bishop Molloy Passionist Retreat House in Queens, New York from 1996-2000.
Fr. Ryan has been interested in the topic of God and the mystery of suffering for many years, offering courses and lectures on this theme in a variety of venues. He has published a number of articles on the topic and is the author of God and the Mystery of Human Suffering: A Theological Conversation Across the Ages (Paulist Press, 2011). He has also written a number of articles on young adult Catholics. He is the editor and co-author of a book on vocational discernment for young adults, Catholics on Call: Discerning a Life of Service in the Church (Liturgical Press, 2010).
