About Your Presenter
Father Michael Crosby is a Capuchin Franciscan. He lives in community with other friars in a downtown Milwaukee parish that serves the urban poor, homeless and marginalized.
Since 1973, Fr. Crosby has been a pioneer among Catholics in promoting corporate reform through socially responsible investing. He was influential in getting Catholics to work with the Protestant and Jewish communities in this effort at the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR).
Fr. Crosby's preaching and writing on contemporary biblical discipleship has taken him around the world. Toward this end he gives retreats, workshops and parish missions. He has written seventeen books. His book on the Beatitudes, published in 1981, has had more than 20 printings. All of his latest books have received awards from the Catholic Press Association of Canada and the United States, including a first place award for Can Religious Life Be Prophetic? and a second place award for his book on Spirituality in 2008 entitled Finding Francis, Following Christ (Orbis, 2007). Fr. Crosby has also published The Paradox of Power: Moving from Control to Compassion in a Violent World (Crossroads, 2008) and Spirituality of the Beatitudes (Orbis, 2005).
About Your Presenter
Ilia Delio, OSF, a Franciscan Sister of Washington D.C., is a former Professor and Chair of Spirituality Studies at Washington Theological Union in Washington, DC. She is also a research fellow of Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University.
She holds a doctorate in Historical Theology from Fordham University and a doctorate in Pharmacology from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)-Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
She has written extensively in the area of Franciscan theology and spirituality, as well as on various themes in science and religion. She lectures nationally and internationally in Franciscan theology, contemporary spirituality and science and religion. Her books include Simply Bonaventure, The Humility of God, Care for Creation and Christ in Evolution.
About Your Presenter
Your presenter is Fr. Murray Bodo, O.F.M., Ph.D., a Franciscan Priest and a member of the Franciscan Academy. He earned a Ph.D. in English from the University of Cincinnati and taught English and American Literature and the craft of writing for 36 years. The author of 23 books, including the best-selling, Francis: The Journey and the Dream, and his recent works, Mystics: Ten Who Show us the Ways of God and Song of the Sparrow: New Poems and Meditations. His poems, stories and articles have appeared in magazines and literary journals. Fr. Murray resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, and spends three months of the year in Assisi, Italy, as a staff member of Franciscan Pilgrimage Programs. We recommend Fr. About Your Presenter
Br. William Short is a Franciscan Friar the former President and Academic Dean of the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley. He is currently Professor of Christian Spirituality at the Graduate Theological Union and Director of the St. Francis Retreat Center in California.
After graduating from the University of San Francisco, he completed an M.A. in Philosophical and Systematic Theology before receiving the S.T.L. and S.T.D. degrees from the Gregorian University in Rome.
Br. Short has dedicated his scholarly work to a retrieval of the Franciscan tradition of spirituality and theology. He is co-editor of the three-volume series of English translations of all the documents written by St. Francis of Assisi and his earliest biographers: Francis of Assisi: Early Documents. He has published works on the history of the Franciscan movement and its spirituality.
