We invite you to a retreat with one of the leading living Jesuit retreat masters, Fr. Joe Tetlow, S.J.

Through this special 12-talk program, Rev. Tetlow will draw from his decades of experience with the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius to guide you to choose Christ in the world, find your authentic desire under God, and seek first to find God in all things. You can go through this experience in several ways: it can be 30 days or 8 days, or done daily for months, or abbreviated to a long silent weekend. However you do it, you begin with the principium et fundamentum, usually translated Principle and Foundation. This of course, is Christ Jesus, in whom we live and move and have our being.

Using this series of 12 lectures, you will meditate carefully through His whole life on earth - constantly begging "to know Him more clearly, love Him more dearly, and follow Him more nearly." Coming to know Him, we know ourselves better, so you pray in the Exercises to see plainly the gifts and graces you have received, and also the failures and sins you have committed. You let His passionate love teach you that you are forgiven and honored in God's eyes. You will bring home to yourself how much God loves you by contemplating Jesus' Passion and death. You may find that something in your life really needs reform or renewal. You may find that you have an important decision to make, and make it well during Exercises.

But we could persevere in none of this were it not for the sure hope that we will go through death into an eternal life with Christ, and with Him in our flesh. A contemplation will reveal how all things begin in Christ and through Him return to the Father. The presentations here open these issues for your reflection and prayer.

About Your Presenter

Joseph Tetlow, S.J. is the director of Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House, where he gives retreats, workshops, and writes. He spent several years in Rome as head of the Jesuit General's Secretariat for Ignatian Spirituality, guiding the efforts of 250 Jesuit retreat houses. He was also a professor of Theology at St. Louis University and an associate editor of America Magazine. He has served on the Board of Directors of SLU, the University of Seattle, and Harvard's Institute for Educational Management.

Fr. Tetlow has written numerous articles and books. Among them are Ignatius Loyola: Spiritual Exercises, Choosing Christ in the World, Making Choices in Christ, and a commentary on the full cycle of Sunday readings in America.
